Wachovia Regional Foundation

Neighborhood Planning and Development Grants

Since its inception in 1998, the Wachovia Regional Foundation, a grantmaking body with the primary mission to support the revitalization of communities located in New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Pennsylvania, has awarded over $25 million in grants to more than 65 nonprofit organizations.  The Foundation administers two types of grants:

  • Neighborhood Planning Grants support the development of neighborhood plans that take a comprehensive approach to revitalization. Grants vary in size from $25,000 to $100,000.

  • Neighborhood Development Grants support comprehensive community development projects that target specific neighborhoods. To qualify for this grant, a neighborhood plan must be in place that is resident-driven. Grants vary in size from $100,000 to $750,000 and are disbursed over three to five years.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Organizing and Economic Development Grants

In organizing projects, people work together to address the needs of their community. Poor and marginalized people are empowered by joining together to make decisions, seeking solutions to local problems and finding ways to improve their lives and neighborhoods. These projects assist individuals to develop as community leaders and to mobilize the community's resources.  Economic development projects assist poor and low- income people to develop new businesses and create new jobs. Projects provide the potential for low-income people to share greater ownership of assets and participate in decision-making.  Grants are for up to $50,000.  Pre-applications are due November 1.  Complete information about the grants and the application process is available at http://www.usccb.org/cchd/grant.htm.
