Improvements to Sandy Aid Information on the Way
Governor Christie signs Sandy transparency bill into law

8/10/2015

Governor Christie has signed legislation authored by Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-Gloucester) and Senator Linda Greenstein (D-Mercer/Middlesex) that would create greater transparency in the disbursement of aid to residents affected by Superstorm Sandy. The Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (the Network) encouraged passage of the bill, and applauded the governor’s action today. The Network’s President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“Providing Sandy survivors with easy access to timely information about their status is critical to getting people back into their homes and communities. For the many families who are still struggling to rebuild their homes and their lives after Sandy, this legislation is an important step in the right direction. This will allow them to find out quickly and easily where they stand in the process which will help them make the best decisions for their future.

“We commend Governor Christie for signing this important legislation. We also want to thank Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, Senator Linda Greenstein, Assemblyman Vincent Mazzeo and all of the bill’s sponsors and supporters for their leadership and tenacity on behalf of New Jersey residents still struggling after the storm.”
