TrumpCare Passage Jeopardizes Access to Quality, Affordable Care, says Network

5/4/2017

In wake of vote on the American Health Care Act by the U.S. House of Representatives, the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey’s President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“Today’s vote on the American Health Care Act is a shameful moment in our nation’s history. We are disappointed in Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen and Rep. Tom MacArthur, the two members of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation who ignored the will of their constituents and helped pass this travesty of a bill. Shame on them.

“Affordable, quality health care is crucial to the physical, emotional and financial well-being of all Americans. Many of our neighbors who find themselves facing foreclosure or experiencing homelessness often point to astronomical medical expenses and lack of access to care as a root cause for their situation. We’re deeply concerned about the consequences of this bill. We will fight the passage of this reprehensible legislation in the Senate and do everything we can to prevent it from becoming law."
