Statement from NJ Community Development Association on Newly Appointed DCA Commissioner

11/9/2017

On the heels of the announcement of Governor-Elect Phil Murphy’s choice of Lieutenant Governor-Elect Sheila Oliver to lead the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Housing and Community Development Network of NJ (the Network) President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“We wholeheartedly support the appointment of Lieutenant Governor-Elect Sheila Oliver as the new head of the department that is vital to New Jersey’s community development sector. She has been a champion for strengthening our neighborhoods and creating affordable home opportunities during her tenure in the NJ Assembly. We look forward to continuing to work with her to Build a Thriving New Jersey.

“We would also like to thank outgoing Commissioner Charles Richman who has served in the Department of Community Affairs for over thirty years. Our work with DCA under Commissioner Richman has included funding initiatives to help chronically homeless individuals and families find a permanent home, disaster recovery, and neighborhood revitalization. He was recently recognized by the Network for his contributions throughout his career. We look forward to continuing these efforts and providing greater opportunities for the residents of New Jersey to find safe and affordable homes under the new administration.”
