Network Congratulates Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson on New Role Leading the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus 12/15/2025 The New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus (LBC) has announced the appointment of Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-Hunterdon/Mercer) as its newest Chair. On the announcement, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (the Network) Vice President of Policy and Advocacy Matthew Hersh issued the following statement: “She has consistently fought to protect and strengthen the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF), recognizing it as a critical tool for the development and redevelopment of affordable homes for low-income residents across our state. As a sponsor of legislation to fully restore funding to the Trust Fund and to dedicate half of the mansion tax to the AHTF, she has demonstrated principled leadership and a deep commitment to long-term, sustainable investment in affordable homes. “The Legislative Black Caucus played a pivotal role in restoring the AHTF in 2021 after funds were diverted during that budget cycle. With Assemblywoman Reynolds-Jackson now serving as Chair, we are confident the Caucus will continue to lead on policies that advance housing stability, racial equity, and opportunity for communities across New Jersey. “We look forward to working closely with the Legislative Black Caucus in the upcoming legislative session and to partnering with Chair Reynolds-Jackson to advance bold solutions that will help HouseNJ.” About the Housing and Community Development Network of NJ
