Legislative Proposal Creates Fair, Transparent, and Effective Rebuilding, says Network
Sweeney Bill of Rights tour visits Toms River

2/21/2014

Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) visited the second stop on his "Sandy Bill of Rights" tour today in Toms River. At the town hall style meeting, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey President and CEO Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“A year and a half after Superstorm Sandy struck, too many New Jersey residents are still without homes and have too little hope that they can rebuild. Governor Christie and his administration have not gotten the job done, and helped people get the resources and information they deserve.  The Sandy 'Bill of Rights' will address these issues for current storm survivors, and future ones, if needed.

"Sandy recovery should fair, transparent and effective. The application, appeals and decision process should not be a mystery. The recovery can be fixed, in part by providing timely, accurate information to residents. We are proud to support Senate President Sweeney’s effort to adopt the Sandy 'Bill of Rights' to help get survivors back on their feet and into safe homes they can afford."

The Housing and Community Development Network supports New Jersey’s community development sector, collaborating with more than 250 members including community development corporations and other organizations to create affordable homes, expand economic opportunities, and build strong communities.
