Sandy Foreclosure Bill Up for Vote in Assembly Today
Housing advocates urge legislators to support moratorium on foreclosure for Sandy impacted homeowners

12/3/2015

The Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (the Network) sent a letter to members of the New Jersey State Assembly today in advance of a scheduled vote on a bill which would provide a three year protection against foreclosure to owners of real property damaged during Superstorm Sandy. On the bill, Network President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“Thousands of families are still in the midst of rebuilding after Sandy. Many have been forced to pay rent on a temporary home while paying the mortgage on an uninhabitable home. This bill is a short term solution that can help people and communities recover.

“Sandy survivors have endured enough already, we have an opportunity to provide some relief and avoid furthering New Jersey’s foreclosure crisis. We encourage all members of the General Assembly and Governor Christie to support this measure.”
