Congressional leaders reached a deal this week on an emergency COVID-19 relief bill that includes $25 billion in emergency rental assistance and an extension of the CDC’s federal eviction moratorium through January 31, among other things. Congress has also released a final bill to fund affordable homes and community development programs at HUD and the USDA as part of a larger omnibus package for fiscal year (FY) 2021. The spending bill provides HUD $49.6 billion - more than $12.4 billion above the president’s request.
Finally, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized reimbursement for non-congregate shelter through the duration of the COVID-19 emergency. Details coming soon!
