NJ’s Housing and Community Development Association Applauds New Round of Emergency Rental Assistance

3/16/2021

Following today’s announcement on the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey’s (the Network) President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“We applaud Governor Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Oliver and the Administration for making these funds available as quickly as possible. Far too many families are months behind on their rent, falling into a black hole of debt and on the verge of homelessness. Having a home has kept people safe during this pandemic, we cannot allow them to lose their homes because of it.

“The rollout of the first round of the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program was very successful. Today’s announcement will bring hope to NJ families who will be able to access these funds. NJ takes an enormous step in the right direction today. In addition, we need long term solutions, like the People’s Bill, to keep homeowners and renters safely housed when the public health emergency is lifted. We are all in this recovery together.”
